21 octubre 05The tenth Edition of Elche's Medieval Festival begins this weekend
On Friday the 21st October, will begin the new edition on Elche’s Medieval Festival, a tenth edition established among the most important cultural events around the Valencian Community.
During all the first weekend of the Festival, there will be shows and performances at theatres, musical stages and in the street. Music will be the indisputable main character because of Amancio Prada appearance in the Basílica Santa María.The musician, together with the “Escolanía del Misteri” will perform in the concert “Canciones del Alma” a repertory inspired in passages from San Juan de la Cruz.
Furthermore, on Friday 21st, from France will arrive Diabolus in Musica, who will play a repertory took out from the medieval tradition. On Saturday 22th from The Czech Republic, a group of four musicians called Psalteria will sing medieval poems and songs playing historical instruments.
There will be nonstop entertainment in the streets, not only because of the Medieval Street Market, located in the historical part of the city for all the weekend, but also because of the different passacaglia offered by colourfull and funny long-legged Caucasian.
Moreover, on Saturday 22th there will be activities for children with Periferia Teatro and with Morboria, on Sunday 23rd. Morboria Teatro will offer a fascinating show with fantastic characters, taken place in the “Hort de Baix”, a traditional palm-tree garden that will be transformed into a scenery for Viking invasion during Saturday night.
