The Minstrel Cycle is one of the news of the tenth edition of Elx Medieval Festival, which will take place in the Iglesia de San José until Wednesday 26th October.
The minstrel from Italy, Matteo Belli, was the responsible for inaugurating the Cycle with a funny monolog “Genti intendete questo sermone”.
Antoni Rossell and Gabriel Calvo offered last night a completely different repertoire. Antoni Rossell was the first one who performed the “Romance of The Quijote”: “contextualized in the literary tradition and social environment of the epoch”. Afterwards, Gabriel Calvo performed a complete repertoire based on “El Romancero: un cuento que se cuenta y además se canta” together with songs from his CD: “Cuaderno de romances tradicionales”, and the popular music from Salamanca.
The musical group Aljama will close the Minstrel Cycle, they will be tonight: “Tres juglares sefardíes”.
