Festival Medieval Elx 2007

Every year the Medieval Festival of Elche involves the city in the mistic and sounds of remote times. International artists bring through music, theatre and parallel activities the opportunity to encounter the past.

Festival's History

1st Edition

In the first edition, in 1990, under the direction of Mr. Luis Quirante, the programme included, amongst others, the singer Maria del Mar Bonet (El cant de la Sibil·la) and Els Comediants presenting their spectacle “Dimonis”. The programme also included Il Barracone (Guarda ben disciplinato) and the “Patronat de la Selva del Camp” (Reprentació de l’Assumpció de Madona Santa Maria).

As complementary activities the Festival held its first seminar on mediaeval performances and recitals. The subject of this first seminar was the “Concept of Spectacle during the Middle Ages”.
