Festival Medieval Elx
Introduction to Elche Festival Medieval
A Festival is an exceptional event, some kind of break in daily life. The Festival serves Humanity to remember an recover its past, but, at the same time, to imagine and invent its future. It is, with no doubt, a moment of celebration and fantasy.
That is the reason why we have designed the Medieval Festival of Elx looking at the past, continuing and picking up what the city of Elx has pleasantly approved during the last ten editions. But, at the same time, exploring the future and so, revealing among the programme the typical features of our personality as main responsible of the Festival. Thus, we hope that people in Elx consider appropiated the two promoted features during this edition: opening the Festival to young people and establishing a dialong between the Middle and the Contemporary Age.
We have organized these strategies and convictions around a programme which is inspired and placed in the Middle Age. This edition is based on its ludicrous and satirical dimension: from the “Carmina Burana”, “Carmina Humana”, jugglers, jesters, rap singers, to “the Borgia” and the Carnival taking place the last day. All that as the core of a programme which includes other kind of activities, specially focused on children and the festive use of the street.
We would like to thank the Local Authorities for trusting us. And I strongly want to emphasize the fact that all of this effort would have been impossible without the contribution of the Local Cultural Area, and the technical, communicational an logistics teams. For all these people, my gratitude.
