Fiesta time in Elx II
Everybody seems to be in the street during fiesta time. Merrymaking and culture are a part of manifold happenings. Commemoration of the Christian conquest of 1265 by King James I bedecks the town that lives intensively the Moors and Christians’ cortèges. Lights, colours, ostentation, powder and music fill the streets during several days and nights.
A symphony of colours in the skies of Elx for the Nit de l’Alba
The Nit de l’Albà (Night of Dawn) cannot be explained without the local passion for fireworks and gunpowder. Thousands of fireworks known as “palm trees” fill the skies of Elx with flashy colours on the night of the 13th August.
