A wide cultural offer
Educational and cultural offer is first class in Elx. The Misteri d’Elx Museum takes he visitor to a virtual tour through this unique mediaeval performance. The City’s Archaeological Museum and the Palaeontology Museum show valuable collections. The City’s Exhibition Centre and the City’s Park Museum offer exhibitions throughout the year. Another remarkable museum is the 12th century Arab Baths, below El Convento de la Merced. Gran Teatro Elche
The Gran Teatro Theatre offers a programme including concerts and performances. Every two years, Elx becomes a major international cultural centre with the International Mediaeval Theatre and Music Festival organized at the same time than the extraordinary November Misteri d’Elx performances. For over twenty-five years now we’ve had a date with the International Independent Cinema Festival, which has rightly become a world reference for short films.
Elx is a vocational University town. The city offers three different higher studies institutions: The Elx Miguel Hernández University, the UNED and the Cardenal Herrera University belonging to the CEU San Pablo.
